
The FA Charter Standard scheme is the FA kite mark award which looks to provide recognition to those affiliated clubs who demonstrate:
o Required standards o Raising standards o Rewarding Quality
There are three levels of Awards for Clubs
FA CHARTER STANDARD CLUB
The award is available for both Youth and/or Adult Clubs
In summary a Youth Club needs to demonstrate:
o Club Management Structure and a Club Constitution o Club Welfare Officer and Child Protection Policy and Procedures o At least one FA Qualified coach with each team in the club o CRB checks via the FA CRB Unit for all club members with unsupervised access to club playing members under 18. o Fair play i.e. Code of Conducts, Equality Policy, Complaints/Disciplinary Procedures o Insurance o Commitment to attend a County In-service Training
In summary an Adult Club requires:
o Club Management Structure and a Club Constitution o Insurance o First Aider with an appropriate First Aid Qualification for each team o Fair Play i.e. Code of Conducts, Equality Policy, Complaints Procedures/Disciplinary Procedures o Agree to abide by the FA Child Protection & Policy Procedures
FA CHARTER STANDARD DEVELOPMENT CLUB
These clubs must have met the criteria for Charter Standard Clubs and must also have:
o At least five teams at four different age groups o A Club Coach at Level 2 Certificate in Coaching Football o Commitment to attend at least two County In-service Training events o A three year Football Development plan meeting certain criteria
FA CHARTER STANDARD COMMUNITY CLUB
This award is the pinnacle of the Charter Standard Programme. In addition to meeting the Charter Standard Club and Development Club criteria, Community Clubs must have:
o At least ten teams from Youth to Adult o Mini Soccer Provision o School Liaison Officer o Volunteer Co-ordinator o Development of Disability Football Opportunities o Boys and Girls teams o 3-5 year Football Development Plan meeting certain criteria
Clubs which achieve the Charter Standard award will be able to access a comprehensive benefits package, which includes:
o use of the Charter Standard logo o Certificate/ Plaque o Equipment benefits o Tickets to England Youth/ Woman’s Internationals o Enhance Funding applications o Further benefits if you achieve FA Community Club o Plus other exclusive County FA benefits e.g. In-service Training
However maybe the most important benefit is the recognition, from The FA, that the club provides a safe, quality experience for its players.
The Cheshire County FA can provide practical support, resources and training courses to assist clubs to achieve FA Charter Standard.
