The FA is striving to ensure that every disabled person who wants to be involved in the game has the opportunity to reach their potential. To support the development of the England seven national impairment specific squads within Learning Difficulties, Blind, Partially Sighted, Hearing Impaired, Amputee and Cerebral Palsy, the FA have established County Centre of Excellences throughout the Country. In May 2005 the Cheshire County FA launched their Centre of Excellence. Now in its third season, the Centre of Excellence aims to:
· provide the opportunity for male disabled football players to develop through the player pyramid
· provide quality coaching, education and welfare for both the Under 14s and the Under 17s age groups
· develop talented and elite disabled footballers to play in a Pan-Disability team at County Level and support their potential progression into one of the six National Impairment Specific Disability Squads.
