GIRLS FA CENTRE OF EXCELLENCE
FA - Trials for talented female footballers in Cheshire aged 8 – 15
The FA Girls Center of Excellence at Crewe Alexandra FC will be holding trials for talented female footballers in the County.
The centre is a part of the talent identification process of the England Women’s game. The center provides weekly advanced coaching sessions adopting the Long Term Player Development philosophy which helps girls to develop to their full potential. Crewe also plays in the North West fixture programme against top class opposition on a regular basis.
FA scouts regularly monitor the girls’ progress with a view to exceptional players going on to represent National squads. During the season 2009/10, two Crewe Alexandra players represented England Women’s squads at U15 and U17 level.
During the season of 2010/2011, the centre will consist of 4 squads, Under 10, Under 12, Under 14 and Under 16. The squads will train twice a week and will take part in a 20 match fixture programme with games taking place on a Saturday. Opposition will include FA Centres within the North West area including Liverpool, Everton, Blackburn and Manchester United amongst others. During season 2009/10, additional fixtures were also arranged against the likes of Arsenal, Leeds United and Birmingham City.
