The event was led by three Cheshire Leaders (Chrissy Roberts, Bryan Mills, Sue Oliver) who are involved in the FA Step into Sport programme and are role models for Leadership in their areas. The event co-ordination team organised a packed day involving a whole variety of learning opportunities around leadership skills, team building and the delivery of workshops on Age Appropriate Coaching, Inclusive Football and Refereeing. These workshops were delivered by FA staff and provided the Leaders with further knowledge and ideas, and empowered them to make a difference back in their local football communities.
Two Leaders from the event will be selected to represent Cheshire County FA at the FA five day residential Leadership and Volunteering camp which is taking place in July 2010. The National camp will involve a whole variety of learning opportunities and cover a whole breadth of football disciplines, from learning about coaching and refereeing, to sports science and goalkeeping, and on to disability football and the exciting format of football called Futsal!
The Cheshire County FA acknowledges the role that young volunteers play throughout football and is keen to support this volunteer workforce by offering a range of opportunities and courses to develop their leadership experience.
