What is Futsal?
Futsal is the form of five-a-side football that is played by an estimated 30 million players throughout the world and is supported nationally and internationally by The FA, UEFA and FIFA. The sport differs from traditional five-a-side in that it is normally played indoors on a marked pitch with the rules designed to encourage technical development and fair play.
• Pitch dimensions are comparable to basketball and handball and the game is played with touchlines rather than re-bound boards
• The Futsal ball is smaller (size 4) and has a lower bounce than a football
• There is no restriction on the ball going over head height or players entering the penalty area
• Unlimited substitutions can be made any time during the match
• Teams are penalized if they accumulate more than 5 fouls
• There is a FIFA World Cup, UEFA Championships and UEFA Champions League equivalent for Futsal
• There is an England Futsal team that recently competed in the UEFA Championships
