Cheshire FA Awards finalists 2017

Finalists announced for 2017 Cheshire FA Awards.

Cheshire FA are delighted to announce this year's finalists of The Cheshire Football Association Awards.

The Cheshire FA Awards have become our way of rewarding those involved in grassroots football across the county who are making a real difference to how the game is played and developed.  With over 600 clubs, 3,500 teams, 750 referees and 5000 volunteers active every week it is imperative that we make sure their hard work is recognised.

In 2017 we have made three awards available for public nomination and after a judging panel of Cheshire FA officials met the following finalists were chosen:

Cheshire FA 'Changing lives through football' award

This award is for an individual who across the 2016-17 season actively embodied the Cheshire FA tagline of 'changing lives through football' within grassroots football in the county. 

Finalists:

- Iain Wright

- Michael Kinsella (Tranmere Rovers)

- Stephen Done (Mobberley JFC)

 

Cheshire FA Community Engagement award

This award is for a club, league or grassroots football project or programme that has had a real impact on their local community across the 2016-17 season by using football as a vehicle for positive engagement and social change.

Finalists:

- Appleton AFC

- If Mum can I can (Lymm Rovers Juniors)

- Sandbach United

 

Cheshire FA Safeguarding and Welfare award

This award is for a club, league or individual that has made a strong commitment to promoting and upholding the importance of safeguarding and welfare in grassroots football in the county across the 2016-17 season.

Finalists:

- Hartford Football Club

- Michael Clews (Stockport Dynamoes)

- Paul Threlkeld (Witton Albion Juniors)

 

Awards Evening

The presentation of Cheshire FA's 2017 Awards will be taking place on Friday 8 September at Cheshire Conference and Events, Edgeley Park, Stockport, in aid of charity partner Once Upon a Smile.

The event is proudly sponsored by Marc Darcy.

Our fifth annual awards evening will be hosted by ITV Sport presenter, Matt Smith and will see the winners of the 2017 Cheshire FA Awards recognised for their brilliant work in the previous twelve months.

We will be joined by members of Once Upon A Smile celebrity football team, including charity co-founder and captain Danny Miller.

Attendees will receive drinks on arrival, a two-course evening meal, awards and entertainment.

The ten awards that will be presented on the evening are as follows:

  • Cheshire FA Coach of the Year
  • Cheshire FA League of the Year
  • Cheshire FA Club of the Year
  • Cheshire FA Volunteer of the Year
  • Cheshire FA Referee of the Year
  • Cheshire FA 'Changing Lives Through Football' award
  • Cheshire FA Community Engagement award
  • Cheshire FA Safeguarding and Welfare award
  • Once Upon a Smile Inspirational Person of the Year
  • Once Upon a Smile Supporter of the Year

  

Tickets
