Cheshire FA receives backing from MBNA

Cheshire Football Association to train dozens of new football coaches and referees from underrepresented groups with backing from MBNA Foundation

Cheshire FA is excited to announce that the MBNA Foundation, the charitable arm of MBNA Ltd, has agreed to donate £25,000 to football-based community projects in Cheshire. The donation will fund the training of coaches and referees from underrepresented groups. It will also help finance new equipment and engagement for girls in primary schools across the county. Cheshire FA is proud to work with businesses that share its vision of “Changing lives through football”.

Cheshire FA is also committed to improving the opportunities of underrepresented groups in Cheshire and this donation from the MBNA Foundation will have a long lasting impact on the lives of those who will be involved in the training.  Through this commitment, Cheshire FA will now be opening up a new chapter for football in the County.

There is no doubt that our combined expertise, passion and commitment will ensure this project is a sustainable success. There is no doubt that this support will contribute to a lasting legacy for grassroots football in Cheshire. We are striving to create more opportunities for underrepresented groups in our County and to lead on this work nationally”.

Sean Humphreys, MBNA Foundation trustee, commented: “MBNA Foundation is backing Cheshire FA to create dozens more football referees and coaches from underrepresented communities across our region. Coaches and referees are key role models for young footballers. The Foundation is proud to be helping bring more people from different backgrounds into the game”.
