We have launched a new project to get girls in primary schools into football! 

Girls Game On is an initiative to get more girls active and involved in football and we have designed some specific female football fun equipment & resource packs for primary schools to use during lunch times / after school. 

We are giving the packs away at festivals that we are running for primary schools across targeted areas of Cheshire where currently participation is low.

The packs encourage game play and also playground leadership as the girls will officiate and set up their own games.

At the festivals girls will take part in fun small sided mini games that are all related to the equipment packs.

The festival is non-competitive and is set up just to let the girls play and enjoy football.

Exit route information is being given out to schools and players around the new girl’s mini soccer Wildcats Centres that the local clubs are running for 5-11 year old girls, as well as information on their nearest Charter Standard Clubs.

The Cheshire FA is also setting up new girls leagues across Cheshire in association with the Cheshire Girls Football League to help grow the game locally and support the girls development and enjoyment of the beautiful game.

Football Development Officer Stephanie Knott said "We are working with local primary schools to help get more girls active. It’s important that every girl has the opportunity to take part in the game from an early age. There are lots of great female role models out there to inspire the next generation of players to be involved and enjoy the game. Hopefully this initiative will help give girls their first taste of football, putting their first foot on the female football pathway.

The programme was launched last month at Blacon High School, with 11 schools and 120 girls receiving pop-up goals, bibs, cones and footballs! Girls Game On will now continue to be launched at other areas of Cheshire.
