We would like to pay tribute to Geoff Antrobus, who sadly passed away recently after a battle with Alzheimers.

Geoff was involved in football all of his life and was heavily involved in the creation of the Macclesfield Sunday League in the 1960s.

Geoff was also a member of the Maccelsfield District Football Association as well as being a Cheshire FA Council Member.

Friend and Cheshire FA Board Member David Mansfield, 68, said: “He was very fair and honest and always gave an opinion in a straight way.

“Loads of people have said what a fantastic man he was and how he was always there for grassroots football, he put his heart and soul into it.

“Geoff left a legacy with the Sunday league and he will be remembered with a lot of respect and affection.”

The funeral was held today at the Macclesfield Crematorium.
