Winter Elevens Leagues Launching Again Soon

There is just over one month left until our winter Elevens Leagues get underway across Cheshire.

There is just over one month left until our winter Elevens Leagues get underway across Cheshire.

Starting in 2016, flexible Elevens football was designed to form a hybrid between the purism of playing the 11-a-side game with the convenience of small-sided football.

Games are 60 minutes long and are played fortnightly, making it easier than ever before to fit football around your other commitments.

By the end of the 2018/19 season, there were 53 teams participating in this format, with divisions taking place in Chester, Ellesmere Port, Wythenshawe, Wirral, Warrington and Northwich.

Following the success of our Summer Leagues, we are now recruiting additional teams ahead of the winter campaign, which will kick off in September.

Ryan Cotterill, Cheshire FA Football Development Officer, said: "We've been delighted to see how quickly people have taken to the concept of the flexible Elevens format. We recognised the need to offer an alternative type of football and truly believe that Elevens combines the best elements from the traditional 11-a-side game and the small-sided format.

"This modern format of the game ensures that participants don’t need to commit as much of their time to football and can accommodate it much more easily around work commitments and their social lives.

"A huge amount of thanks must go to the Chester & Wirral Football League and the Altrincham & District Amateur Football League for helping to initiate and develop the flexible Elevens format across the county."
