Statement on National Game Insurance Scheme Provided by Bluefin Insurance

An update on how Insurance could affect your club.

An update on Personal Accident Insurance

Following the recent measures introduced by the Government to restrict outdoor activities due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Bluefin Sport and their partner Insurer, AXA XL, have agreed the following approach in respect of Personal Accident insurance purchased via the National Game Insurance Scheme (NGIS), for the 2019/20 season:

  1. All Personal Accident policies to remain in force until the expiry date, 30 June 2020;
  2. At the next renewal, all premiums will be discounted to reflect the period of inactivity, due to the Government measures, up to 31 May 2020.

By maintaining the Personal Accident insurance for the remainder of the policy period, this will ensure that cover is continuous for all Clubs/Teams, and hence, should the Government amend the restrictions in relation to outdoor activities, which means that some footballing activities can resume, prior to 30 June, the Personal Accident insurance will continue to cover the coaches, players and club officials, accordingly.

The Personal Accident insurance provided via the NGIS covers all organised footballing activities, so although all league and cup fixtures have been concluded for the 2019/20 season, the Personal Accident insurance will cover your affiliated Clubs/Teams in respect of:

  • Friendlies
  • Training
  • Tournaments
  • Coaches, whilst attending County FA organised Educational courses
  • Club Social Events

The renewal invitation that will be issued in respect of the Personal Accident insurance for the 2020/21 season, will make specific reference to the premium adjustment made to reflect the period of inactivity due to the Government measures, thus ensuring full transparency, and avoid any misunderstandings, accordingly.
