District FA History: 
During the 1963-64 season it was decided (by Cheshire FA I suppose) to increase the number of District FA's from 7 to 9. 

A meeting was arranged for April 23rd 1964 and the Runcorn & District FA was born.

In the first year, 24 clubs were affiliated together with 8 minor clubs, also there were 33 referees registered in that season. 

The longest serving member of Runcorn & District FA is the treasurer, Terry Clare, who recently stepped down after 43 year’s service.

The Runcorn & District FA area covers south of the River Mersey. Which is Runcorn, South Warrington up to the Thelwall Viaduct, including Thelwall, Stockton Heath, Grappenhall, Appleton (up to the M56), Moore, Daresbury, Dutton, Frodsham, to the boundary of Kingsley, Alvanley, Helsby and Elton.

New Volunteer Opportunities:

- Ideally we could do with a competitions secretary as this role is being covered by the Hon. Secretary.
- A volunteer with a decent knowledge of Social Media would be helpful.
- Someone with design/marketing/communication skills, to help in promoting the DFA. Updating the RDFA badge would be a start!

If we’re going to support the development plans of Cheshire FA then a few more volunteers interested in helping grow involvement in grassroots football would be good.

We would like to get young people volunteering to find out the views and ideas of the young people currently playing grassroots football. 
What’s good about local football, what’s not so good and how would they like best to be involved in bringing about improvements.
