What The FA Charter Standard means for cubs
Clubs achieving The FA Charter Standard status can be proud to be the best place for people to play and enjoy football. They are able to demonstrate positive football environments where people can develop their skills, keep fit and enjoy playing as part of a friendly, inclusive community.
In return for becoming accredited The FA Charter Standard status, clubs receive access to benefits that help to attract and retain players, volunteers and supporters. The level of support and resources available will depend on the level of accreditation a club achieves. Benefits clubs experience include:
- Attract and retain players, supporters and volunteers
- Funding for football equipment
- Access to promotional resources and guidance
- Tailored support from The FA and Cheshire FA
Proud to support Adult Football
The FA is proud to support adult clubs to help them meet new challenges in grassroots football. We’ve updated The FA Adult Charter Standard Club award to make sure we represent the needs of our clubs and players in the modern game.
All adult clubs are eligible to become accredited to The FA’s Charter Standard programme. The only stipulation being that a club must play in a league or competition affiliated to The FA.
Our research shows clubs accredited to The FA Charter Standard programme are better able to promote and organise themselves. This means these clubs tend to have more volunteers and more players. They are more likely to continue playing from season to season.
We’ve updated The FA Charter Standard application process to help clubs to focus on planning for the current or forthcoming season. Specifically this includes:-
- Key dates and events for the forthcoming season
- Identifying predicted expenditure and income
- Player recruitment
- Club volunteer recruitment and retention
Clubs that complete this process and become accredited to The FA Charter Standard – Adult Club are able to claim certain benefits. These benefits change from season to season. Clubs who are accredited from the start of 2018-19 are eligible for the following:-
- A £100 Nike kit voucher for the Adult Kit Scheme.
- 10 Nike Strike balls
- The ability to promote themselves as accredited The FA Charter Standard - Adult Club including the use of the logo and the Proud to be The FA Charter Standard identity
- Eligibility to apply for a £750 ‘ Retain the Game’ grant from the Football Foundation
