Cheshire Girls League

The Cheshire FA has set out to double the number of females taking part in football by 2020.

The Cheshire FA  has set out to double the number of females taking part in football by 2020. Cheshire FA has devised a localised plan to help achieve this ambitious but exciting target.

Cheshire FA’s strategy sets out to provide one central league structure for all girls affiliated football that provides local accessible provision across the county that is consistent in standards and operations.

We want every girl across the county to be playing within a league structure that has the same rules, formats and have access to play on quality facilities.

New local central venue divisions of the league are being formed and strategically placed, not only to help girls’ football but also to encourage & develop female referees & coaches in a quality environment.

All of the new localised divisions will feed into one structure, this will help with transition of mini soccer to Youth Football to Open Age football.

The time is now to implement this framework with significant investment and programmes coming in from the FA such as Wildcats, Grow the Game which all underpin the strategy which will ensure that the foundations are laid within a new competition structure that has been thought of and built in the most effective way to enable the game to flourish and give the attention and recognition the female game deserves.

The brand new Leagues are being formed in association with the Cheshire Girls Football League to create opportunities for girls to play competitive, fun football at a quality venue in a positive environment.

The leagues will work with clubs to ensure that it focuses on the female players and ensures that the girls’ game grows locally and helps players to develop in a positive environment and most of all that the players enjoy the game.

The leagues have been working with the Cheshire FA and will be FA Charter Standard and FA RESPECT Leagues.
