We are delighted to announce some significant staff changes at Cheshire FA.

The changes will open the door to further improvements and progress in our work across football provision and development in Cheshire.

Mike Watson has taken up the role of Chief Executive Officer. Mike joins us with a wealth of experience in grassroots sport including Netball and Rugby League.

Mike also has an extensive background in business and finance and will be looking to continue our growth as a business to provide the best possible support for grassroots football in Cheshire.

Mike is looking to raise the bar in Cheshire. “I’m delighted to be joining Cheshire County FA and would like to thank the Board for the vote of confidence in appointing me to this position.” He said.

“Football in Cheshire, outside of the Covid-19 crisis, is in an excellent position, and I’m looking forward to bringing my experience from both Business, Sport and Education to continue to drive the County game forward.”

“There are many volunteers across the County who dedicate countless time, effort and resource to ensuring Football in Cheshire is of the highest possible quality, and I’m really looking forward to working with our key stakeholders to raise the bar further.”

“We have a team of dedicated professionals working out of the County HQ, who I know have the best interests of the game at heart.”

Our team at Cheshire FA has been further enhanced by the appointment of Danielle Shields as the Football Development Manager. Danielle has a background in grassroots football after previously working for over eight years at Liverpool County FA in a variety of roles including Workforce Development Officer and Football Development Officer.

“I’m thrilled to be back in grassroots football and to be joining such a thriving County FA such a Cheshire.” Danielle Said.

“We have an extremely dedicated and knowledgeable football development team at your service!”

“I am very much looking forward to working with the many devoted volunteers across the game, who make football happen across Cheshire and whom without we would be lost.”

Finally, we are delighted to have Lystra Landon on board who has recently taken up the role of Dedicated Safeguarding Officer (Maternity Cover). Lystra has a background in social care as a qualified social worker, whilst also being a coach for a grassroots girls’ team in Cheshire.

I am passionate about safeguarding, football and equality.  I love seeing players enjoying the game in a fun and safe environment.” She said.

“Safeguarding our grassroots community is of paramount importance to us and the responsibility of all.”

“I look forward to working with you as your Designated Safeguarding Officer.”

I am sure that you will all join us in welcoming Mike, Danielle and Lystra to Cheshire FA.
