Cheshire FA Coach Education Announcement

We will be delivering a limited programme in the coming months.

We have made the difficult decision to deliver a very limited programme of FA Courses in the coming months.

The FA are looking at utilising digital platforms to inspire, support and develop a culture of on-going learning amongst coaches. With the new PlayMaker being the starting point for anyone getting into coaching.

They are now beginning to look at the best way to deliver Level 1, Safeguarding Children and IFAiF courses going forward using digital capabilities. The FA are looking to centralise provision for these courses and intend to launch a new delivery model from March 2021.

These developments will affect the delivery of courses in Cheshire along with the covid-19 requirements set out for course delivery by the FA and The Government, in which the importance of everyone’s welfare and safety is paramount.

We are committed to supporting learners that have started their FA Level 2 and FA Level 3 (UEFA B) journey and those volunteers taking on the important role of Club Welfare Officer.

Unfortunately, we are not able to deliver the following FA courses in the coming months:

  •  The FA Level 1 in Coaching Football
  • The FA Level 2 in Coaching Football
  • IFAiF (First Aid)
  • FA Safeguarding Children Workshops
  • FA Level 1 & Level 2 in Coaching Futsal
  • FA Developing Coaches through Mentoring Course
  • FA Level 1 & Level 2 in Coaching Goalkeepers

We will be contacting all learners previously booked on to courses and in-flight learners completing their qualification with specific information and the next steps. Please can we ask that learners, clubs and leagues allow us time to complete this process and refrain from contacting the Cheshire FA about an existing course booking unless you have not heard from Cheshire FA by the 1 November.

The FA is reviewing how best to support coaches nationally as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. They will be releasing further information on the changes shortly and more detail on these courses will be available directly from The FA in the new year.

Open Letter to Learners from The FA

The FA are also developing new resources and free content on their digital channels to support coaches including:

  • YouTube
  • The BootRoom
  • Online community
  • Twitter

To make these channels as user friendly and engaging as possible going forwards.

For an overview on the changes and coaches support can be captured in this short video:

Making Improvements

Cheshire FA are looking at the development of a localised coach support offer and will be working closely with the FA to support their new 4-year strategy for Education.
