Rainbow Laces 2022
Throughout November and December, Cheshire FA once again supported the FA and Stonewall’s Rainbow Laces campaign.
Clubs across Cheshire proudly displayed their Rainbow Laces in support of LGBTQ+ inclusion in Football, and to showcase a public display of allyship to LGBTQ+ participants.
On Thursday 8th December, we hosted an event at Cheshire FA HQ for Clubs, Leagues, DFAs, Players and Officials to join us for a workshop on Making Football For All in Cheshire. We were joined by Pride Sports CEO, Lou Englefield (who is also Campaign Director for Football v Homophobia) and Raj Randhawa, Northern Grassroots Officer for Kick It Out.
Lou delivered a session all about the history of LGBTQ+ in football, and the journey that the game has been on, with a number of significant milestones achieved in the last 18 months thanks to the bravery of top professionals coming out. This was followed by a look at how our clubs and leagues could make their organisations more inclusive by making small adjustments and offering education to all of their volunteers.
Raj then provided guests with a look at Kick It Out’s free online resource, The Academy, that provides resources for Equality, Diversity and Inclusion awareness. Raj also discussed how clubs and leagues could become partners of Kick It Out through the Clubs and Leagues Charter, showing a commitment to inclusion.
Cheshire FA are committed to making football FOR ALL in Cheshire.
