Spotlight on Chester Female Football Development

Chester FC Community Girls Football Camp wishes the Lionesses good luck for their next match!

Chester FC have been doing a great amount of work developing the female game.

They have also been running girls sessions both in and out of school time to try and increase opportunities for girls and get into World Cup fever! 

Chester FC also runs the FA Girls Emerging Talent Programme for girls showing great potential and offers a programme to enhance their development whilst still playing for their grassroots club or school. For further information on the FA Talent programme please click here.

In Cheshire there are currently two centres that hold the licence: Chester FC and Crewe Alexandra FC.

Chester School Sports Partnership has been working passionately with schools in the area to deliver the Barclays Girls Football School Partnership Programme that aims to mainstream football in schools for girls across the country. More information about the wider programme can be found here.

Lots more exciting work has been happening in the Chester area with the development of the Cheshire Girls League - Chester Locality.

The amazing volunteer committee has been preparing to deliver a competition development structure for girls Under 7s, Under 8s and Under 9s building upon the success of last season. 

Clubs such as AFC Waverton, Chester Nomads, Upton, Tarvin and Vicars Cross, Neston Nomads and Ellesmere Port Red Lions are involved in the development of the league, with more teams joining this season. Development fixtures take place on a Saturday at Chester FC King George V Sports Hub 3G pitch. 

Cheshire FA currently has a small grant scheme specifically for clubs in the Chester area to apply for and access support from Cheshire FA’s Equal Game Ambassadors, helping clubs to provide more teams and opportunities for females to play the beautiful game.
