Cheshire FA Continue to Fight Discrimination

As a county we are working hard to eradicate all forms of discrimination.

Throughout the 2022-23 season, we have received 56 cases of reported discrimination:

As a county, we are working hard to provide education across a wide-range of different areas to express the importance of making football a game for all in Cheshire. We have also enhanced our resources available to clubs, leagues and referees on our Inclusion page.

One area we are most proud of though, is the introduction of our new pastoral support offer for victims of discrimination and aggravated cases. Throughout the process, the victim is at the centre of our focus. We provide a support service and ensure that we signpost to additional resources such as Sporting Chance.

CEO, Steve Smithies, said: “We are currently in the process of reviewing our pastoral support offer by asking for feedback from those who have been the victim of discrimination, to work on improving our process even further and to assist us in tailoring the support offer to the needs of the victim. This is extremely important to us as a team.”

Garry Polkey, Cheshire FA Compliance & Regulation Manager, added: “We are determined to eradicate all forms of discrimination from the game – and in order to do so, we need our grassroots community to feel confident to report aspects of discrimination. If you witness discrimination; please report it via Discipline@CheshireFA.com
